If this is your first time booking a family photo session with me, you might not know what to expect. This quick blog will help you with everything you need to know before we have our photoshoot.

  1. What time do we need to book in? (Timings)

I work around you guys. If you have a sleep schedule or feeding routine, I am happy to work around that. I usually suggest booking your photoshoot around a time when little one has just had a feed and a change. This way, they are nice, comfy and relaxed. But if you have absolutely zero routine, that's totally fine too! Our photo session will take around 2 hours. We can stop for as many feeds and changes as needed. There is no rush.

  1. Where can you go? (Locations)

Your family photoshoot can be anywhere you want. At home or a location of your choosing (EG: the beach, your favourite walk or your local town). If you go for an 'At Home' photo session, the locations I tend to use are: the living room, the nursery (if you have one), parents bedroom and the garden.

  1. Can we include our pets & other siblings?

Siblings and fluffy friends are always welcome at my family photo sessions but sometimes I recommend potentially having an extra pair of hands on deck (grandparent or a friend) in case they need distracting or need to go to another room while we focus on the new arrival.

  1. What kind of photo will we take?

My family photo sessions are based around you and your family. If we are doing a newborn session, the photos may be more focused on the new arrival with parents in the background but mostly I focus on just capturing really natural & relaxed moments. I will help guide your through any poses if you need a bit of help. There’s no pressure for everyone to look at the camera at the same time or anything like that (I usually only take a few traditional ones like that). Some of the most meaningful images happen when you’re focused on each other instead of the camera.

  1. What should we wear?

There is absolutely no rules when it comes to what to wear for our photo session. My main piece of advice would to make sure you're comfortable in whatever you choose to wear. If we are doing a newborn photoshoot, we can do as many outfit changes for them as you want.

  1. What happens after our session?

Once your session is complete, I’ll carefully select and edit the best images, enhancing light, colour, and tone while keeping everything natural and timeless.

You’ll then receive your password protected online gallery, where you can relive those moments, choose your favourites and print/save & download.

Final Thoughts

All you need to show up as you are for your photoshoot. Your family, exactly as it is right now, is worth remembering. And that’s what I'm here to capture.
